Backing up the AMI after all the updates, etc

I've signed up for the AMI with Amazon and went through all the steps suggested on the OpenLink site for getting the OS and Virtuoso software up to date. This was a time consuming process, so...
My question is, if I go through the process of backing up the updated AMI image to S3 using the ec2-bundle-vol, etc. Will there be any issues with me starting the updated instance?

Hi Eric,

As stated in the support case you logged, I don't think backing up the EC2 AMI instance itself is advisable or needed. You should only backup the database files as detailed at:
