Redistributing Virtuoso Drivers

Postby RobV on Thu Aug 13, 2009 5:49 am

I can't seem to find the relevant license agreement to trawl through to check this out but I wondered what the licensing terms were for redistributing the virtado3 DLL which provides the Virtuoso ADO.Net provider as part of other applications in order that those applications can integrate with Virtuoso.
Specifically I'm building an API which supports various storage platforms including Virtuoso and so needs the DLL available along with various other DLLs which provide third party libraries my API needs.

From what I can work out it looks like this should be OK since your licensing model primarily licenses servers running the Virtuoso server rather than clients accessing the server. So as long as the end users of my API have licensed/open source editions of Virtuoso server they can use then there should be no issue? The ADO.Net provider is freely redistributable, or am I mistaken?

Hi Rob,

You are correct ...

All our Data Access client libraries can be freely redistributed with third party applications. This is a common question that comes up particularly in relation to our open source licensing and is thus specifically detailed at:
