How to load RSS feeds?

Postby jaanush on Thu Jun 07, 2012 10:13 am

Hello!

I need to load RSS and Atom feeds into Virtuoso from my Java application
(I'm using Sesame API). The question is how to do that?

Simply trying to load an RSS file throws an error about RDF/XML, Turtle and
N3 being the only serializations I can upload. But surely there must be a
possibility to load RSS and Atom into Virtoso somehow?

I'm using OpenSource Virtuoso 6.1.3, Sesame Java API and Virtuoso-Sesame
driver.

Thanks!

Hi

If your desired feeds are URI dereferenceable, you can simply invoke the Virtuoso Sponger services against the feed URLs. The default installation includes a Sponger Cartridge (effectively, an RDFizer) for RSS feeds. The feeds will be automatically transformed to RDF, and loaded into the Virtuoso Quad Store with graph names matching their source URL.

Please see the Virtuoso Sponger documentation.
